    Re: Choosing a tamper

    Hello Ems,

I guess it depends on whether its an issue with the bulb size or the length of the tamper.

The Pullman Barista is adjustable for height and this may help.

We have found that the following tampers are well suited to smaller female hands seeking a smaller bulb size.
[*]Round handled Rattleware[*]Coffeelab design (now defunct)[*]Barber[*]Bogav

That said, I have about a 10% success rate of predicting the best match of hand v tamper :

I feel that the tamper chooses the hand. Best bet is to find a supplier/sponsor with a range of tampers and go in and try some.

    Hope that helps

    Chris

I have got a gorgeous Torr tamper, but it is uncomfortable for me to use as the handle is far too large for my hand. can anyone tell me which brand tamper is good for small female hands?
When you say it is too large do you mean around or in height?

Either way someone with some decent tools may be able to re-size the handle to your specifications.

I use a Pullman and its great for my girlie hands - I just removed all the spacer rings and put it down to the smallest level.

Having said that, if youre somewhere that you can drop in to a Sponsor and try a few before you buy - most Sponsors have at least two or three brands - then even more the better...try before you buy!

    Cheers

You can get a Pullman with a custom handle

Or work your way through some tampers that feel good in your hand
