Re: Brisbane CS Get Together - Sunday 6 June 2010
I find the ethiopians for me, are an aquired taste, lot more zingy than most, i only drink them as short blacks, i find they get a bit funky in milk, but great straight!

Yes, the pressures on. Were going to try and get the bulk of it done this weekend. Will get some pics of it along the way and post. We are planning a cob style oven so I am sure the kids are going to love getting their hands dirty "Helping".... ;DOriginally posted by 103D3F393435315C0 link=1273567885/124#124 date=1275946221The pressure is on to get that pizza oven finished
Would be interesting if you got photos of the different stages to post up your pizza oven building in the off topic section.I was interested in one of those build your own and would love to know the processes you went through

Also sounds like black is back in, so the San Marino CK with black ABS top wont be out of place then

I cant guarantee the pizza oven will be finished but Ill try.
AM weve been toasting you all day with beautiful coffee...... I realise now how much I have been missing recently! Love the black on the machine too. Not only does it match my grinder, but most of my other appliances. Might have to keep that in mind when we are in a position to buy something.

Only too happy to be able to get a win in..Originally posted by 3B233B64223E243333560 link=1273567885/121#121 date=1275906170AM weve been toasting you all day with beautiful coffee...... Another CSér need parts tonight and .. Nothing we could come up with would work..
First time I have seen a a split barrel in a solenoid like this.. Then I offered a coffee.. Dumped teh first shots... Had teh second round... But should have dumped them as well. New beans and needed time to get the grinder on teh ball.
As to teh future.. I tend to like black... But it does restrict ya choices.. My DCM has a black nose , so that is a start.
Any way.. Glad ya having a coffee and you can push that out of teh way for a while... Get teh other things sorted or at least have a coffee while you think about it/them.

No problem..Originally posted by 647C643B7D617B6C6C090 link=1273567885/117#117 date=1275870789The machine seems to be more robust than the old machine and the quality of the steam was definately better. Plus the black just looks cool!
It is great to have a cross section of some very interesting people with all sorts of current positions / intrests and offten very interesting past lives
in attendance.
We need more Mum2Threes and Coffee2di4s ... Coffee and things involved with coffee are not just a MAN thing.

I just realised... It matches the grinder... Love it...
PS...
You have also published the first public pictures of a finished rebirth....
And NO... I am not taking orders etc..
3 out of 6 units and lots of time etc.. One for me as a travelling spare and the other two as loaners for people in desperate need of a coffee; due to equipment failure / repair times etc..
PPS. Possible re location to a mini Coffee museum for teh next gathering... 8-)

Re: Brisbane CS Get Together - Sunday 6 June 2010
I just also want to pass on a HUGE thank you to AM for hosting this as well - I had a brililiant time, met some really great people and play (albeit briefly) with a different machine.
I was flabergasted with how huge those two grinders were, but amazed at the small footprint of the Unico Splendor in comparison to my Maver.
My only regret were that there were people there that I met, but didnt put names to because I was busy when they were being introduced around.
My thanks, apart from to AM of course, go to KK for the tips and tricks and for his lovely Tzatziki...yum!, of course Warren for his absolutely delightful Panna Cottas (Mrs AM educated me on what Panna Cotta" translates to), to Au_D2 for the delectable iced coffee with Agave Syrup and for the rest of the crowd for making me feel welcome (if Ive missed anything, my apologies - Im running out of superlatives!).
I missed out on the little savoury balls so didnt get to try them, unfortunately!
My apologies for the solo clean up effort, AM... :-[ It wont happen next time. I looked at the chairs and offered to help put things away but you were busy engrossed in conversation at the time so thought it would be better to make my way back out to Boganvillea, Pete and the kids. No excuses, though, really - I should have been more active in making myself heard.
I look forward to seeing you all next time around!
Cheers
Di

Re: Brisbane CS Get Together - Sunday 6 June 2010
We got to the get together late and unfortunately did not get to meet everyone. Was nice meeting those that were left though. WSully, I tried one of your panna cottas and they were divine. Thank you so much.
KK - Thank you for taking the time out to show me your roaster. My boys and I were very impressed and appreciative. I love how it is so quiet and easy to use. I especially love how the chaff ends up underneath the beans instead of blowing all over the place like my current system. Thanks for the beans too, am eagerly awaiting them to rest and degas so we can try them out.
Of course a Big thank you for our resident em6900 expert Anger Management. Am went a great deal out of his way to put together a loaner machine for us to use. It has been proudly called the em69AMB and I must say works brilliantly. Dad2three and I sat down this morning to try a brew and the collective Aaahs were a testament to the quality of the pour. The machine seems to be more robust than the old machine and the quality of the steam was definately better. Plus the black just looks cool!

Re: Brisbane CS Get Together - Sunday 6 June 2010
lol @ AM , whats in a name? ... as long as you remember the coffee right 8-) Thank you very much kind sir for your hospitality. My place is easy to get to if traveling to the G.Coast, its just off the M1 at Pac Pines (exit 62, Helensvale South).
It was another very enjoyable event that highlights the great CS community. Always fun to watch people talking to each other, then later exchanging their "CS alias" ... the "AH HA" moment, priceless.
Good to catch up with some familiar faces and always a pleasure to meet new snobs. The path to unlocking the secret of the bean continues to inspire me. Hope everyone enjoyed the coffee as much as I enjoyed the biltong, panacotta, cheesecake, little italian desserts with unknown name, the KK Dark Roast :P , greek yoghurt dip thing .... .............. ....
And a big thanks to GRA and his lovely wife for the lift to said event.
PS .. anyone know if WSully managed to get any sleep before his nightshift ... (how many shots did he have?) ;D ;D ;D
