Thanks Chris, bugger about the Breville shenanigans. Agree it needed to be at the same time to keep all things equal, I guess I was hoping a CSer might have brought their personal machine along, it would have been a great addition to the shootout.

    Cheers

Any comparison with the Breville DB?

    Cheers
I regret not Artman as we are a Breville free zone. The majors can sell at or below our wholesale buy so we had no option other than to drop the range. Without one beside the machines to use same coffee, same grinder style, there is little value in speculation.

    Cheers

    Chris

    Yep, thanks Chris.

    Two dream machines indeed.

Of the two, my choice was the Alex, but it was close.

How did the shootout go Chris?  Waiting patiently for the report card  :
    Gday Jonty.

There was no video but CSer Dazzler and I pulled a few shots. We got close enough (given different portafilters and baskets) to confirm that there is precious little in it when it comes to shots.

The Alex has much larger steam capacity and many other features which cost, but the Lelit is a really nice little machine and it will be the machine which goes in the boot as my traveller in future.

We intend to keep the Lelit on demo, so anyone who would like to have a play can make contact and it will happen

    Cheers

    Chris

Be interesting to line up more than two machines though.
Throw in the Breville, Expobar and the Diadema to make it interesting (and others Ive forgotten) , Then maybe the top end stuff as well like LM GS3 and Synesso 1 group.

    Now thats a shoot out

Ive done a test here and can re-broadcast skype on livestream. If anyone turns up with a smart phone and fancies a go, then post here.

Otherwise, looking forward to a good write up!

would really love to see some footage of these machines (particularly the lelit), or at the least read reviews if anyone goes to try them both out.

wonder if this might precipitate a snobs-only special on the pl60t?? *nudge*

I would be too if I were you
I can assure you that David might be only 1/2 the height pricewise, but hes a plucky little bugger.

Well see if anyone shows  (with or without gear) and take it from there. So far, I have had some terrific shots from the Lelit DB and theres not too much Id change about it. The entry level DB market has another real player and its now a plastic free zone....

It should be possible to re-broadcast skype
I didnt think of that - you and I could skype, and then I could livestream the skype session... hmmm... do you have the gear to skype from a shop?

livestream records for you - not a great quality though, and hours worth would be a huge file. Better off using a hard-disk video camera and uploading later. I would be happy to bring the whole kit and kaboodle in if someone wants to pay my airfare?!
