My somewhat limited experience is percolators arent that sensitive to beans. Was talking to someone yesterday who is quite happy with Lavazza in theirs.

Makes you wonder whether its the percolator or the Lavazza drinker whos not that sensitive to beans ;D
Re: What beans suit a Percolator? - Id like to know too!!
Just to chuck in a second request here - my eldest daughters wedding is coming up and there is a giant percolator thing at the hall. Ive been charged with providing the beans.
My experience with percolators ended in the 1970s.
So Id really be interested in any input on what beans (I was going to use a PNG Waghi) and what roast depth (I was thinking slightly light - like I do for Syphons). Since the wedding is in 2 weeks time, Id really appreciate hearing from anyone with a strong opinion on this!!
The PNG would be ok. I was asked to do the same the same for a wedding last year and used a single origin Rwandan. Worked very well considering. I took it to the first snaps of second crack.
Youd think a lighter roast would be better but maybe it would be under extracted due to the relatively small volume of water hitting the larger volume of coffee. I dont know, but the Rwandan at CS 9 worked well.
All the best. And itll be better than what theyre expecting
