I go through 500g in a bit over a fortnight, thought that was fast :S. Have to watch it when friends/family come over though, thatll chew through the coffee stash in no time.
I too use to drink a lot less coffee than i do now. I would drink 6-7 cups a day. My partner she drinks a little less but is starting to drink a lot more. I go through about 1-1.5 kg a week. Im happy to admit this
Up to about 500g/week (and most of that on the weekend, consumption will probably increase a bit when I have a dedicated Decaf grinder).
Theres quite a bit of wastage there though, its still early days on the learning curve. Its not uncommon for me to pull a bunch of shots, sample them then dump them, and also the odd incident where I screw up my tamp badly enough that when I invert the PF over the bin to get rid of loose grounds the whole puck falls out...
I reckon I would have the record for smallest usage and longest duration for a 500g bag.
I am too lazy to fire up my machine during the week (usually go to cafes with friends) so it mainly only gets used on weekends. Result is that a 500g bag lasts me around 6 weeks. Yes - after week 4 I can definately pick a deterioration in quality but ONLY by reference to my own best shots. Its still superior to any but my favourite cafe. Had a couple for Morning tea today to use up the last of my old bean whilst awaiting my next bag from Andy. Still pretty damn good coffee from 6 week old bean.
Wow,
I feel like an addict..... I am on about 6 cups a day (Im the only one in my house who drinks coffee - Mrs Mariner is a cultural Philistine.....) average, probably 4 x double shot espressos and at least 2 x flat whites, used to be more milk coffee, but it was just too much. The espresso is small and lovely to drink. I also make brews for all who come over so easily add another 12+ onto weekly production....
When at sea we have a Jura Imprezza 8, I limit myself to 3 x 3 double shots with soy in a large keep cup.
Rule of thumb is to have a large glass of water with every brew - avoids dehydration and (so my dentist tells me) is good for your teeth.
4 cups a day (2 for me and 2 for the wife) - 500gms a week - I roast 1.2kg of greens every two weeks which gives me about 1kg roasted - works for me. I dont drink coffee at work.
