How they can be sold for $200 under what our wholesale buy price was I also find difficult to comprehend.
Perhaps there is more than one "wholesale price" ?
Certainly wholesale is not the same as "factory gate"  price.

I bet you guys werent doing that when you were selling them eh?
      I was actually.

I always said that they punched above their weight but Im betting that few of us here are naive enough to assume that they will be around in 20 years. I reckon that there might be quite a few semi-commercials purchased by CSers that are.

If you have a grand to spend and are not prepared to learn a single boiler machine, theyre very good appliances. In 5 years, they will be worth not much so the cost of ownership will be about a grand. If you dont have a grand to spend, no doubt somebody will miraculously have them for sale at $800 in a week or two ... :

No, Breville guys have told me without batting an eye that everyone was on a level playing field. No one was getting kick backs either. So of course it stands to reason, Breville told the truth and every retailer is now happily making a loss on these.

Agree. FWIW, I still recommend them to people on a budget of less than $1.5k, and now less than $1k! If Im upset by anything, its that I sold these to people in good faith, having been assured they would hold their value.

Print the ad then go to GGs and ask them to better it. Also look up evilbay and youll find them for $1278.16. Print and take that to GGs too!

                    Dont think they will,
                    They couldnt match HNs $178.

HN had this for $1297 as well. which is pretty good, if i cant get it cheaper i might end up going that direction.

Pretty good setup for under $1500 i say

Hmm - the price is creeping up. Im sure people got them for around $1000 at HN. It may have been on a 20% off special or something like that. Perhaps also see what the bundle is with a Smart Grinder - you can then always sell the grinder.

Re: What hardware to look for? - New to the scene

Ended up with a BES900 for $950, brand new with 2 years warranty and the smart grinder for $179.

Very happy with my setup and the prices i got (i got very lucky!) not just waiting on some fresh beans so i can start experimenting!

                        Thanks for the help everyone.
Will have to find out a good source of beans that arent to expensive

                          Shadoxity,

Welcome to the Breville owners club. There are plenty of us here very happy with the same setup.

Now the important thing is to get good fresh coffee beans. Either BeanBay browns or a local roaster or better still get into home roasting.

                          Barry.

                            Thanks for that Barry,

I will have a look at BeanBay, Dont know of any local roasters at the moment (Central Coast nsw).

I have thought about home roasting, but i think i should give my self some time before i start doing that ($$ wise) maybe a year away. but that does sound like the best option to have fresh beans!

I will have to do some reading into home roasting.

Just waiting for my grinder to arrive now so i can make my first coffee on this beast! im excited!

                            Cheers,
                            Leon

Finally have everything! As of Wednesday

And finally got to have a bit of a play with grind settings etc.

I still have a long way to go for consistency or getting the coffees better but they are currently better than 3/4s of the cafes around

Very happy with my purchase, this is my current setup.
