I regulary backflush my machine, however what this doesn't do is descale the inside of boiler. Is there a product out there that can do this and how often should it be done?

Yes, there are products that can do this but there are pitfalls.
What machine do you have?
How long have you had it?
What part of Aus do live in? (ie what is water quality like. Some water supplies are 'harder' than others)
Do you use filtered water?

OK. I've used Clean Machine Triple Action in the past without problems (following the directions). Try a search on CS of 'descale silvia' for others' experiences.
Is there a problem with your Silvia, suggesting a descale is required? Some, with better knowledge than me, say that a descale is a remedial action rather than maintenance.

Not suggesting my knowledge is any better than yours Flynn, however, had a Silvia for almost 10 years, replaced it 2.5 years ago with a Bezzera machine.Originally posted by flynnaus View PostSome, with better knowledge than me, say that a descale is a remedial action rather than maintenance.
I don't run a water filter of any kind and have religiously descaled both machines every 8 weeks with Cafetto Restore, have never experienced a scale or boiler related problem with either machine.
So as far as I'm concerned descaling is part of my maintenance routine and never has been a remedial action.

No, no problems with it, just a thought it may have to be routinely done. If I look into my kettle, I see no evidence of calcium build up over the last 5 yrs, therefore suggesting that there should be nothing in the boiler I suppose.
