    The Auberins controller will work with a Caravel or La Peppina as they don't have fancy electronics.

    Sous Vide Cooking Controller [WS-1500ES] - $147.50 : auberins.com, Temperature control solutions for home and industry

    This one will work fine

    To use it you must have the machine temperature control set to it's maximum.

    Here's a photo of the caravel for you.

    The only issue is you won't be able to set it hotter than the factory tstat (assuming it has a tstat...) without doing a little bit of work (may or may not be an issue, depends on where the factory stat opens and how hot you like to extract), I'm not aware of anybody who does anything like that locally, but if you hit evilbay for "sous de vide" or maybe "smoker controller" (though that tends to be more a US thing so liable to be 110V) you might find something.

    Problem is that anything from the US is likely to be designed for 110V not 240V, just make sure you check with the seller before committing.

    Cadan, I think the plug and play Auber pid is for controlling something simple like an aquarium heater. An espresso machine is more complex, with its own inbuilt controllers. These have to be bypassed/disconnected and if a PID is installed to takeover their function.

    Are you referring to these?
    Plug-n-Play Controller : auberins.com, Temperature control solutions for home and industry

    They aren't suitable for modifying espresso machines, you need one of these;
    Coffee Machines & Kit : auberins.com, Temperature control solutions for home and industry

    And they all involve a good amount of internal work;

    What do you mean by "Plug and play" ?
    If you want to avoid any installation work & wiring connections, thermostat bypass, TC install, etc etc..then i struggle to see how that can be done.
    But a "KIT" with detailed installation and set up instructions may well be possible.
    Unlikely to be what you want , but interesting ..

    Plug and play PID with thermocouple

    I am looking for some advice on a PID controler to use with vintage espresso machines

    There seams to be a few options from the US but I would prefer to buy local

    I want a plug and play type PID with thermocouple connection

    Is there somebody here in Aus stocking these ?

    Thanks

    Cadan.
