  • Easy (and cheap!) water solutions for Brisbane

I am in Brisbane, and as the title suggest, am looking for a easy and cheap water filtration solution for use only with my new coffee machine.

I am reluctant to plumb anything, unless its super easy as (a) I am in a rented apartment shortish-term (just moved up to Brissy from Melb), (b) I'm not a plumber. Don't have an excess of bench space, so would prefer not to rely on anything that is going to decrease it by much more!

    Any suggestions?

I have had a quick search of the forum and nothing jumped out as the best recommended solution for me, so was hoping to get some more direct comments. Having a degree in chemistry, I understand what is meant by "scale" and the general composition of water - so you can skip the theory if you wish.

Many thanks for your time and opinions - much appreciated!

    Hi Scotty,

    Something like zis?

Local bombora suppliers may have them. If not, we can ship one up if you wish.

    Cheers

      Hi,
We are renting also and have same issue. If you fridge has a water supply it is easy. I bought a brita C150 filter/softener from Bombora ( great to deal with) and re plumbed my Fridge filter. Simply remove fridge water filter and use 5mm water pipe to plumb in the C150. we drink this filtered water all the time and fill Duetto reservoir from it.
      Hope that is some use
      Cheers
      Dr Dave

Chris - I have been on the forum long enough to know that everything you say will be absolutely spot on. I'll order one of those off you later today.

Dr Dave - Would have been a stellar choice, except my fridge does not have a water supply. Bummer.

Chris, with those systems does the whole machine need to be replaced every 12 months or just the cartridge inside?

In the interests of not creating a new thread...I was wondering if anyone had the above kit (ie the benchtop filter system) and could advise if it is a hassle to screw on and off from your existing tap?
I'm in a position where I want one of these, but also want to put it away out of sight once I've filled up the tank...
I know it's useful for drinking water too...but there's no permission to leave it there connected 24/7

Also, Marcism, you just have to exchange the cartridge inside, see here: Commercial non-sponsor link removed
