As far as making a decent coffee is concerned, you can do it even if you aren't a huge coffee drinker, although it's a harder task. You need a decent palate with the ability to distinguish flaws. I'm not a coffee professional, but I do brew a lot of beer and I'm coming at it from that angle. Professional baristas might tell me I'm off the mark on that, but I really believe that you can make something decent if you're prepared to taste over and over again, and spend the time learning what's good and bad. I'll drink any beer, even infected beer, as each one is an education in what is right or wrong. I know brewers and winemakers who don't drink alcohol and do it well.
Just my 2c. As a disclaimer, I'm no businessman or barista, but I do enjoy decent coffee. And I agree with Andy when he said:
If you want to start a coffee business because it looks like good money or lifestyle then thats fine but I expect you are on the wrong forum. If you want to start a coffee business because you love coffee, want to learn more about it, understand it and create something really special then you are at the right forum and will find plenty of information here about great coffee.
