Hey mate,
I work with La Marzocco's and when they have a new seal, 7 o'clock or 7.5 is about right. And when it gets to 6, then it's new seal time. Remember to conserve the seal to not pull the heck out of it and force it too much otherwise you'll go through seals like nothin else!

group handle not fitting correctly

La Marzoccos all seem to lock much further around to the left than most other machines when they are new, but don't seem to suffer from the handles popping out like many other machines would do with the handle in that position. It will lock in further to the right over time, but will probably never reach the 6 o'clock position. That just seems to be how Marzoccos are made. Marzoccos do have a couple of different seal thicknesses available, but almost certainly a new GS/3 would have shipped with the thinner 6.1 mm seal fitted (the last 2 I worked on did, and so do all the new Lineas and FB80/GB5s we have done lately), so you aren't likely to be able to fit a thinner seal than the one that is in there.

Yep - I think the advice is correct.
If you are happy that it is not moving when you are making coffee and it is not too hard to get into place, then I would suggest you keep using it as is and it will gradually move a bit more to the right.
If it is hard to actually lock the handle in place, look into a slightly thinner group seal.
I recently purchased a new Cafelat group handle for my Expobar from Andy and it locked in around 6:30 when I got it. I have been using it for 2 weeks now and it is creeping towards 6.
My previous handles lock around 6.
Good luck.
Brett.

Its a new GS3 the grouphandle is the same brand and it does make coffee, the position is around 7-8 oclock.
I spoke to someone at a coffee parts store today and they said it will eventually resolve itself over time and the seal is too thick and I could have it replaced.

We'll need more info in order to troubleshoot.
It depends on what is normal for your setup.
What machine are we talking about?
What specific group handle (IE: Is it a different brand to the machine)?
Has the group seal been replaced recently?
Where does it normally fit?
Is this a new setup?
I use clock face positions to get a good idea of positioning. Are you saying it is locking at around 7 or 8 o'clock?
Can you make coffee or not?
