The Beanbay Harrar is great. Locally, Cosomorex (Fyshwick) do quite a decent Yirgacheffe. Jindebah (Mitchell) sell a Harrar and Yirg....have only tried their Harrar and thought it was a touch over-roasted, but could just be me.Originally posted by blswhite View PostThanks for the replies. I live in Canberra and can usually get Limu, very occasionally Yirgacheffe. I am looking for advice on which bean to try and get. I notice that CoffeeSnobs has Harar available and might try that.

Living in Canberra ( or anywhere, for that matter ) is no obstacle to getting the beans that you want to try.
I'm taking a punt on your reply that you are after roasted rather than green beans?
The good roasters offer Single Origin roasts and will, from time to time, have Ethiopians.
Most Ethiopians aren't exactly SO's as they mostly come from different washing stations and don't have traceability
back to growers, however, a stand alone Ethiopian bean lot will fall under the classification of 'SO' rather than 'Blend'.
What is on offer will depend on quality, availability and stock level and whether the roaster is into Ethiopian beans.
At first it will be a bit of a search, googling roasters in the capital and regional cities and elsewhere,
checking out their online shops and seeing what's on offer. Coffeesnob sponsors who are also roasters are worth checking.
Eventually you should find a roaster, or three, that offers a range of beans that you want
to try and delivers to you what you want 'in the cup'.
A reading of the info in the links provided and by doing your own google search will reveal
that, as with just about all coffee, you can't pin one flavour profile on all bean lots from one source, region or country.
Not all Yirgs, Sidamos, Oromias and Harrars are the same……….
There's washed and unwashed, this farm and that farm, different mills and co-ops, different seasons,
different varietals………. lots of factors. Some you'll like, some you won't and some will make you think
you're in heaven!
The beanbay Harrar is a good place to start but there is so much coffee out there
that you can continue your search for a long time!
Only you know your palate and what it is, in particular, that you like……… enjoy the journey of discovery!

Here are a couple of links.
You aren't specific about what you're after, so it's a broad spectrum of info.
I hope I'm not contravening site rules, apologies in advance if I am.
There are two links.
You could google 'Coffees of Ethiopia' and 'Ethiopian Commodity Exchange' (ECX)
