I had one of the best times of my life in October when a friend told of how his coffee trees were overloaded this year. He lives in a community near Nimbin. The trees were first planted thrity years ago with some of the originals still there - over twenty foot! He is a bone carver with disability now so they don't usually pick each year. They did clear the undergrowth around them though They gave me open slather and I got most of what was there of about fifty trees - red cattui variety. Cattui is a very prolific bearer and the good years are mindblowing. Hand picking is really enjoyable. There are plenty of these rogue small plantations around. I reckon with a small team I could pick a tonne of DGB each year, depending on conditions.
