I'm same sort of situation, though I always stuck to manual machines, but it's time I upgraded from my Lelit single boiler, my budget is really only $1500 maybe, $2000 by end of year.

Now the Breville has been around a little while, I think I'll go for it, the 920 update, and I love the black version, really it was gona be that or maybe a Oscar for me, hopefully I can find one around $1200, need to ditch my Sunbeam grinder as that is getting on my nerves, I'll fork out a little more for a smart grinder, then by end of year maybe buy a higher end grinder with the smart as a backup.

If I'm honest, if I could push my budget to $2000ish right up for the machine, there is a couple of e61 machines in the low $2000 that look good (unless I'm wrong), but I won't swing that this time around, maybe in another 2-3 years for me, maybe.

Have you gone out into the market and actually put your eyes and hands on any machines bigdaddy?

Did you look at the link Chris put up in post #25 and Matt's endorsement in post #26?

The Diadema, Vibiemme and Izzo are all top quality machines in build and performance.

Avoid buying a machine on the say-so of someone, anyone can recommend a machine but no-one knows what's
best for you. Everyone will champion the machine they own, and rightly so, if it's a good one.... but who determines that?

To find a machine that's better than anyone's, in the same price bracket, is everyone's wish but what works for someone doesn't work for everyone
so no-one knows which is really the best one.

If anyone did some research and made a shortlist, then found someone who sells the machines and made a choice on personal experience
then no-one would lose and everyone would win.
