Apelino has recently received compliance plating approval for the Piaggio Ape 50.
We are the only organisation who has the right to import and compliance plate the legendary Piaggio Ape 50 three wheeler from Italy.
We have recently commissioned a shipment from Italy with an ETA of mid Sept.
The units are brand new from Piaggio in Italy and once arrived in Australia, will be modified to comply with Australian Design Rules. We over three versions, Base, Gazebo and Gull Wing.

Naples was our most southerly point, thought about Sicily, sadly time ran out.Originally posted by joe View PostYelta, how far south did you go?
They were still a very common site in Sicily when I was there two years ago.
Not sure how appropriate they would be here, other than as a promotional tool.

There already is (was) an "old" style one of these fitted out with a nice vintage 2 group Gagia lever espresso machine, doing business in Sydney.
I first saw it at the food/wine festival in Hyde park last year.
similar to this..
And this is an interesting site..Ape custom | Pinterest

Keep us informed coffee-wolf, will be very interested in the outcome.Originally posted by coffee-wolf View PostThis vehicle is coming directly from Italy, last time I checked Italy was still part of Europe. Anyhow, I have been in contact with them and the word is that it will be compliant to Australian Design Rules and is classified as a Three-Wheeler Moped (LB group) and depending on state it will either be a car licence or a motorbike licence. But I do agree with Andy it is probably not the way to drive from place to place but to set it up and trade and attract attention and close up and drive off into the sunset, possibly on the back of a trailer.
Anyway, these are way cool and are everywhere in Europe.

European greenhouse gas emissions standards have almost completely killed off two-stroke bikes, scooters and outboard motors around the world.

Don't forget California Yelta... the worldwide home of banning stuff!
I doubt you could ever drive one of these on Aussie roads (or would want to!) but you could always trailer it to site and drive it into position once there. could be ideal for markets and shows where the setup area is often a long way from the carpark.

Piaggio Ape 50 to be available in Australia
This is cool....
Apelino Pty Ltd is proud to present for the first time in Australia the Piaggio Ape (pronounced Ah-Peh), the iconic three-wheeler from Italy. The manufacturer of the Ape (Italian for Bee), Piaggio is also well known for their Vespa (Italian for Wasp) scooters. For over sixty years, the Ape has been the world’s most versatile commercial vehicle. Its three wheels have plied the world’s roads since the end of the Second World War, carrying all sorts of cargo. The Ape represents one of the most significant chapters in the history of urban mobility and commercial transport. A one of a kind vehicle with its unmistakable silhouette, it has become a transport icon. The Ape is a part of Italian history.
The Ape 50 attracts attention wherever it is spotted, powered by a 50cc 2 stroke engine with a 4 speed gear box and a top speed of approximately 40kmph, the performance is suited to the job, with good torque for hills, but a low top speed. The rear loading area is a large flat 120×120 cm, which gives space for a number of possible setups, such as coffee machines, juice bar, hot dog stand or even a pizza oven.
One thing is for sure, wherever the Ape is spotted it will attract attention. In the 1950’s Piaggio coined the slogan “ Ape, the vehicle that helps you make money”; and this is still true 60 years later.
