OK reuben hill. Made the mistake of ordering a large espresso. Its too big. Served in a teacup... Full. I think it might be what we yanks call an americano. Which is espresso with hot water added. Wifey had a flat white and a bowl of bean stew which was world class.

Aha! Just talked to the server and she believes I got a flat black. She is bringing me a proper shot now.

Peter, please keep the reports coming through. Always good to get a different (even global) perspective.

Sigh... The 15 1/2 hour flight from Los Angeles to Syd with almost no sleep combined with over caffeination (because I wasted too much tolerance on other places That were not recommended. So Reuben hill was the only one we made it to in our one day in Sydney. The shot was super bright as promised and very nice. Not so many american espresso joints push the brightness envelope quite as hard.... Some... But not many. Fell asleep at 7pm watching the windies playing sri Lanka. Caught our flight to cairns at 9am next morning. Its Sunday morning now and industry one is closed but looks amazing. We will definitely go there on this trip. Just finished brekkie at chill cafe palm cove. Had a single origin Guatemala that was most excellent. Super bright like I like without any under extracted notes (or hardly any, it was quite edgy). Lovely. Thinking of taking the Batista class at industry one.

Aaand? even in tiny little port douglas, if you're an espresso snob there is relief for your cravings. Origin espresso. Magnificent. Top notch. A whizz bang new slayer machine, an e-doserless mazzer robur grinder. A roastery next door. No need to "do without" while visiting FNQ. IMHO origin espresso could stand on its own in any big cosmopolitan city.
