I did have the 'difficult' part done already a year ago. When I had the Brita water filter installed, I made sure the plumber fitted an isolation valve, on the cold water feed under the sink. I just needed to replace the domestic A1000 filter with the much bigger C150 unit, which used the same connections.
The Brita filter requires using a 3/8 BSP connector with a flat washer on the inlet and outlet, I could not find a braided hose with that connector to connect to a T-piece ( I have a filter tap to connect as well ) so I just put the T piece directly onto the C150.
In hindsight I could have canned the braided hose and used something like this T-kit for Brita C150 | Talk Coffee perhaps.
Tip 1: As Chris says, expect to tell the plumber what to do.
Tip 2: don't book a tradie for a friday arvo !
