    Always the right temp for me. Not too hot to sip right away, not too warm so that it goes cold before I finish.
    Enough stuffing around already without heating water separately.

    +1.

    I don't do many LB's these days (I drink SB's personally). When I originally set them up (for others), I tinkered until found a particular (fairly heavy) cup which "saps" a lot of the heat from the group water. Like you, and many others, I add the water first then the shot. The resultant brew is almost exactly 70 degrees (as it should be).

    And as for the guy that doesn't care about crema... must be a heavy smoker or otherwise shot taste buds. Shudder.
