Interesting read. I don't think sequencing the genome of the coffee plant is a positive for coffeesnobs. As we have seen happen with many of our food crops, the most likely effect is that GM coffee will replace heirloom strains with loss of both genetic diversity and flavour complexity, all in an effort to reduce input costs and maximise profit.

I hope all our coffee is not GMO, i think theres two categories soon, Non-GMO and GMO coffee beans....
We need co-existence, Greedy people shouldn't exploit coffee beans for profits anyway
