    Re: Where do you rest your PF when tamping?

    I use the tamping mat that came with my Sunbeam grinder, works fine, size is ok too. Its meant to sit in the grinder but I took it out and use it on the bench.

    I thought it was useless, but it stops the pf from sliding when tamping. This happened once when I was tamping without the mat, and the pf slipped out of my hands, and coffee grounds went everywhere :-(. Very messy.

    Javabeen.

      Re: Where do you rest your PF when tamping?

      Were currently stocking, and Im currently using, the coffee bumper tamping stand.

      This product is really designed with cafe use in mind because the stand elevates the spouts above the bench top. This prevents the spouts from picking up ground coffee from the bench and transferring it into the cup.

      Cheers,

      Luca

        Hi Luca,

        Is the tamper part of the set?

        Cheers,

          Lawrance,

          On the page (further down)

          Included in 1 tamping stand set is

          * 1 steel frame with top mat stuck on
          * 1 bottom rubber non-slip base
          * 1 packing box
          * The round hockey puck (tamper mat) is part of the tamper set - but you may purchase these
          separately. It is part TM1

          So nope..... and it would be unusual so to do as different people prefer different tampers.... including Gregs fitted tampers

            Re: Where do you rest your PF when tamping?

            Looks like the right product for me, as I sometimes switch between a single spout and double.  Its so hard to tamp a single spout PF.

            Does anyone know where to buy this locally in Australia?

            It sounds rather expensive, at USD$60 to ship from Hong Kong! Thats one very expensive accessory!

              So one answer is Veneziano Cafe. - site sponsor.

                Oh sorry, I read, but didnt read that post from Luca, if you know what I mean. I didnt realise that the underlined text is actually a hypertext link which I could click on.  Doh!!!    My bad.   :

                I will have to drop in soon to buy it. Tried ringing Luca, but the store was shut after 3PM so I was too late for today.

                But I should be there first thing tomorrow morning!
