Grind setting for drip filter coffee machine?

Hi folks,
is the grind setting the same for drip filter machines as it is for espresso machines? Or do you need the grind to be much coarser like for a plunger?

Hi bob,
Inbetween plunger and espresso. There is also a variable in my opinion if you are using a paper filter or a metal filter. A paper filter you can go a finer grind which would be similar to if not a little finer than a stove top grind. A metal filter requires a slightly coarser grind. All this also comes down to your taste.

Concur - I have a metal filter and go coarser. Tip: after brewing a pot as you empty the pot check to see how much residual fines are left at the bottom. If there are a lot go coarser. Use this method to adjust grind setting.

Underrated and forgotten method of brewing. I love a good drip filter.

I have about 8 different types of brewers which i have collected over the time. It provides coffee for the guys at work. Its a step away from espresso sometimes. The only bad thing is that its easy to drink too much.
