...which also doesn't exist... It's a little like the Aillio Santa at the moment! At SCAA last month they had a model of one, not a working prototype... a shell with pretty lights that had never cooked a bean.

I suggest corking your excitement until they have something that roasts coffee and then you can determine if it roasts a kilo or if that kilo is as good as it could be. This of course isn't even considering regional certification and safety standards testing of which a few "coming soon" roasters won't go close to passing.

There is a flood of vapourware at the moment, please hold onto your hard earned until you get past the barrage of marketing fluff and pretty CAD based models.

      Agreed Andy.

We've taken the risk and parted with our $$$ for a pre-order Bullet and hope something arrives sometime around the time they say it will.

Regardless of how good it is, it will need to pass electrical certification (read get a whole pile of cash, a few roasters, a stack of time and say goodbye to the lot).

It will be good if it can deliver what it can promise. I'm happy to take the risk on behalf of CS and will let members know if/when.

I cannot see any scenario which would allow for sale of these roasters in Australia for quite some time.

      Cheers

      Chris

          Kickstarter coffee roaster

Good to hear the inside industry views on these things! As a regular punter all I see is the pretty marketing fluff...

I really dig the design of making popcorn popper style roasting usable indoors (though I didn't notice a smoke supression system like in the Behmor?), and being able to set profiles on your phone was cool, though I always dislike being dependant on future app support from a company that may no longer exist in order to access functionality on electronics - you phone gets updated and no longer supports the app and they don't exist anymore to fix it? no thanks.
I can't believe the price that they are targeting though. It's 10x the price that its worth.

It looks like a nifty little device but, as others have said, it's way overpriced. Amazingly they have reached their Kickstarter goal of £80,000, so I guess it's a goer.

Just remember that on KS, you're not purchasing as much as placing a bet on the success of the project.

If you want to see what happens when it goes the other way, check out the ZPM Nocturn.

...and it has been successfully funded. It's going to be interesting to see what people have to say about it.

The Zpm was and is a nightmare.
I believe they were bought out and now the company is called Decent Espresso with machines planning to go out in 2016 to the backers that took the risk with Zpm a few years back.

                    /end off topic/

Do you have a reference to confirm that the ZPM backers will be getting supplied by DE ?

Second last paragraph of this article is where I read it. Whether it's true is another story.

But the final paragraph kills that idea.
DE is a separate project with a different espresso concept, and no obligations to ZPM backers !
..but yes.. Enough of this off topic.

Are you talking about the Nocturn, or the roaster here?

If the former, you might want to check out that link of kopigeek's.
