Here's an example just in from Mt Gambier. 6 month old machine on everpure filtration and scale reduction...

Yeow.... Descale that and it will melt! So no scale reduction for me. So far my mushroom is good, but elements are more vulnerable me thinks!
Re water source: difficult to know, I think they switch or mix it between ground water and desal. Sometimes our soap really froths sometimes not! We live west of Perth near coast.
It varies, not quite suburb by suburb, but close, some also include surface water via dams. It also varies seasonally. Their annual report gives you an idea, but if you email them they can give you a longer average which is better. Best bet however is samples direct from your tap. Swimming pool shops will give you detailed numbers if you take a sample in. Worth the money in my opinion given what we're spending on the machines.

I've got an RO system with remin, general advice I received was WA water is so bad that it needs it. Aqualife AquaCafe, non-sponsor machine supplier stocks it locally, not a cheap option though...
All I know is tread carefully with some of the filtration stores locally, some of the people I came across were on par with used car salesman.
How much reject water is there from domestic RO? Do you need to rechlorinate it after?
Im thinking if RO water can filter out fluoride, might change my mind about it.
So ive done strip test. Meh its as accurate as the report above. Haha. Between 200 and 300ppm total hardness i would guess. Ph seems about 7.0.. according to the strip..
Assuming 200ppm TH, that would likely put TDS at >300ppm. If it were my machine, I'd be going bottled or RO.
