Well, I finally did this today - with very disappointing results.

Measured my Sunbeam EM7000 brew temp under normal brew conditions (Pressure and flow) and..

Victor 86B meter, thermocouple on top of coffee puck, 20 second "pour".

      1 - 4 seconds in showed 84 degrees
      4 - 10 seconds gradually went from 84 down to 75 degrees
      10 - 20 seconds from 75 down to 65 degrees - then I stopped and gave up.

My office of finance (wife) has given me the go ahead to get a new HX machine. Time to go shopping!

        Hmmm...

Sounds like the Thermoblock isn't doing a good job. Starts out low and gradually gets lower and lower...

Is your SB7000 still under warranty? If so, you should be able to use the data to back your claim for a new t/block or a replacement machine. It is plainly not fit for service as it currently performs...

        Mal.

An HX machine would be a great choice. It is tempting to always buy new but I would consider a better machine second hand if money is an issue.
