Ordered espresso in a cafe today. Flavour was scorched beyond belief. During service they took the back panel off the machine to reveal the inside componentry was all rusted, and there was actually real spider webs spanning some of the pipework. For real. Spiderwebs. Now I have seen it all.

      Coffee Horror Stories

Ordered a long black at a cafe in Orange in country NSW.

      "Cup or mug?" they asked.

      I went with cup.

What turned up was the size of a soup bowl and was excruciatingly hot.

Just the other day whilst sleep deprived after the arrival of a little one, I made a shot without a glass underneath..... It was a horror to see my coffee in the drip tray.

Went to my sister's place for something, went to make myself a coffee on her EM7000 looked alright but tasted like I'd picked up some mud and thrown it into the cup. I asked her how often does she clean it, she responded, do you have to clean it? She'd had it for 2 years....

Spent a week in USA and had many horror experiences.

This was the best when i asked if they knew how to make a Piccolo Latte, of course sir.

It arrived in a cup the size of a small bucket.

Remember by US standards i.e. 64 ounce soda cups and the like that IS piccolo... Maybe you'd have been better off ordering a Macchiato?

In the end i found a shop in LA that did a Midwest Macchiato that was basically a Piccolo, although i never drank a filtered cup during my stay it was a lottery whenever ordering.
