Thanks Renzo for offering up your services on my broken machine - much appreciated.

And thanks to the other 'snobs' for their advice etc.

The good news is that I was able to source a local repairer who was able to look at my machine first thing Monday morning. Fault found with Control Board. CB replaced and my machine is now back home and punching out shots without breaking stride.

    Happy camper

That four day enforced break from the taste of my coffee as I like it was much more difficult than I had ever imagined.

There's two items in my kitchen I know I cannot live without; my ECM and my ZIP hot/cold filtered water.

    Merry Christmas, good people.

    Hi Renzo,

I live out Castle Hill way but wouldn't hesitate to drive over to Bondi, if you have quick access to parts and can fix it this week

    Are you open today? (Sunday)

    Cheers.

(Edit: app didn't update so i didn't see the other recommendation til after the fact) :-)

Di Bartoli have a quick turn around time. Based on parts availability. Think there may even been an expedited fix option too. Worth a call if you're over that side of Sydney or would like a drive.

Di Bartoli has a guaranteed 72 hr turnaround for servicing which can be upgraded to 24hrs ($40 extra). I recently took advantage of this upgrade for a machine service to reduce 2 x 5 hr round trips down to 1. Not sure if this applies to repairs.
    Good luck
    Mal

Try Jetblack Espresso, they sell and service ECM machines. Alternatively Di Bartoli although I'm not sure if they deal with ECM.

Their contact details are at the bottom of the webpage in the sponsors list.

    Nah, no multimeter, unfortunately.

Not really sure if I can take my plea for help any further here......other than asking if anyone knows an ECM tech dude (anywhere in Sydney) who can work a miracle before next Friday

Yes those would appear to be the safety cutouts. It's probably good they haven't gone, it's usually a sign that the boiler has emptied which indicates more problems.

The pressurestat is on the left of the photo, you will need a multimeter to check the continuity of the microswitch.

Do you have a multimeter or access to someone who has one? It's a bit pointless going further without a multimeter. I was going to write this in my last post but I was on the phone and couldn't be bothered typing any more.

    Photo attached.

There's a small round sort of black button (thingo?) between the two blue wires and two black wires.....it would appear that neither button has tripped (firm to push).

    Machine off and unplugged.

    1. Check boiler thermal cutout if it has one. Looks like a thermostat with a red button on in. Press down on the button, if it clicks noticeably then it has tripped.
Check boiler water level in case the autofill isnt working.

    2. Check pressurestat continuity. Not sure if this machine has a big Sirai or a smaller Mater pressurestat but either way, it'll have two wires coming out of it. They should be a closed circuit.

    3. Check heating element resistance. Should be between 20-50 ohms or so.

    Thanks for your interest, Mal.

Yes, pump is running water through the group head.

Gauge above steam wand usually sits at about 1.3 bar - this is the gauge now indicating zero. No steam or water through both wands.

I've got the top off machine ATM but not sure what I'm looking at

ECM Technika Profi IV - no pressure

    Pressure gauge reading zero.

Switched off for an hour or so and then back on, still zero pressure.

Three years old and never missed a beat, until now, a week before its busiest operating period.

    Damn.

Any hints, tips, clues would be appreciated.

    Cheers.
Working...
