  • Basket upgrade for Rancilio Silvia

I'd like to make 2 decent sized (double shot?) coffees at once but find the Silvia double basket too small. Have thought about a Rancilio Silvia naked portafilter/triple basket combo. I would then have to divide the shot by extracting into perhaps a Rhinowares double shot glass with a spout. This seems less than ideal as I would be disrupting the crema? What would the alternative be? A larger precision basket? If so, which one? And do I need to change out the portafilter as well?

Maybe see if jazzleg ended up finding a solution http://coffeesnobs.com.au/brewing-eq...io-silvia.html

      Hi Jenny,

Take a look at site sponsor coffee-a-roma for the rancilio deep portafilter: Rancilio Deeper Group Handle fits 21g basket

I think this is the better option if you insist on splitting your shot, but I know i found the naked portafilter invaluable for improving my dose/tamp method. It just looks amazing as well when you pull a shot through a naked.

      Cheers, Dave

I use a Rancilio naked portafilter with a Synesso triple basket. Certainly does the trick in terms of providing enough espresso for two coffees however you will need to manually split the espresso after pulling the shot.

Also second what DaveD and coffe4me2 said about using a naked portafilter.... Absolutely amazing and a view you'll never get tired of!
