  • Punch Cofee - Perth Western Australia

    Hello

I am new here and am trying to track down coffee that is very similar to the now closed Punch coffee in East Perth.

Google tells me there beans were blue mountain beans from PNG. At the time the beans were $90 p/kg.

On a side not is there a area/thread for new members?

    Cheers

$90 for PNG sounds a bit steep!! What flavour profile did the Punch coffee display, I'm sure one of the Perth micro roasting community will be able to come up with the goods!!

Yes is was very steep. Thank was back when beans were around $28-$35 p/kg. I don't know the flavour profile but the beans were larger than normal and I forgot to mention google says they were Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee beans from PNG. I hope someone remembers them

I have roasted Jamaica Blue and it is a lovely coffee but there are plenty of equal or better beans out there at much lower prices, with Jamaica Blue you are paying for the name. Talk to some of the local roasters about what flavour profile you are looking for and I am sure they will be able to satisfy your needs at a reasonable price level.

As it happens, a lot of PNG estate (and village farms) use trees derived from the original Jamaican Blue Mountain varieties. A bit of research will identify which ones they are...
And, none of them sell for anything even close to the $'s you're quoting.

              Mal.
