A leak from the water inlet should be an easy fix.
First up I would undo the inlet to the machine (after you have turned the water off!) and just check the thread looks ok and give it a clean and wipe with a rag. If it all looks OK then re screw on and nip it up with the correct spanner (don't over tighten as you can stress the internal pipe if you are not supporting it at the same time) Sometimes people use thread sealant tape but it shouldn't be necessary if you tighten it correctly.
It sounds like you have a Brita filter of some sort set a t a 30/70 bypass. This should be fine for your location and water quality.

Update for whoever is interested .... machine leaks when switched off!
Spoke to Antony from casaespresso and I am going to put some plumbing tape around the thread where the pipe connects to the machine and see how we go. THANKS for your help Antony!!
