First up I would undo the inlet to the machine (after you have turned the water off!) and just check the thread looks ok and give it a clean and wipe with a rag. If it all looks OK then re screw on and nip it up with the correct spanner (don't over tighten as you can stress the internal pipe if you are not supporting it at the same time) Sometimes people use thread sealant tape but it shouldn't be necessary if you tighten it correctly.

It sounds like you have a Brita filter of some sort set a t a 30/70 bypass. This should be fine for your location and water quality.

Feel free to call me if you want to talk through it.

    Cheers

30% bypass is quite normal setup for melbourne water.

Can I ask where you got you've machine and filtration set up from?

    - Tap only turns a slight amount.
    - The filter has some setting on it set to 30 (i think) I need to take a look tonight, anyone know what that number at the top means.
    - The machine is heavy i may need to jack the four feet up and have a good look at the connection into the machine. I am hoping I loosened it by accident when cleaning the bench but i doubt it will just be that

Hi, I have been able to connect the filter to the tap without any major problems ..... I do have a problem with a slow leak where the hose connects to the machine. I had monitored it all day yesterday and there was no leak. Subsequently overnight i woke up to some puddles on the bench and floor. It could be either the connection to the pipe had loosened in some way or there is a leak when the machine is swiched off? I had to turn the tap of for the day.

Any ideas on how to get to the bottom of this leak?

    G'day Steve...

Would be better if you started a new thread for this mate, under Pointy End machinery...

If the Duetto is the same as the Leva then the waste is a small cup under the tray and the pipe runs out to the right.

The problem with the cup is that if you are running a lot of water through at once (eg to do a portafilter wiggle clean) it can overflow. So keep an eye on it.

I put the hole in the side of my bench, but only because I was able to do so and didn't want to drill the stonework.

Hole placement depends on machine and aesthetics.
I'd go for out of the way as a starting point.
Then make sure you can get an ok angle downwards to get it to empty.
Drain hose is not super flexible.

You'll also need the inside of your cupboard drilled, I suspect, to get down to the drain at the bottom.

Also note that the little nipple bits on the drains usually come plugged - so you need to drill those out too.

You will also need some form of tie to hold the drain hose onto the nipple. A metal clamp is the way to go - like what is used on washing machine hose.

Definitely plumb the waste! It's terrific not having an overfull drip tray to empty every day [emoji108]

Plumb the waste for me. A decent "drop" from the waste outlet to the counter top hole is important and keep the waste outlet hole in the drip tray clear and clean. I use a round plastic takeaway container to catch most waste water during maintenance - less splashing and less mess.
