Any luck sci-teach? I should be able to get the scales over to my father in laws EM7000 tomorrow and check it out for you.
I've been working off 16g. Grinding with an atom. But I've had to change the grind from 0.5 to 4 and back and forth daily. On fresh beans.
I think the machine is faulty
So not good
Doesn't mean I don't get channelling though.
I certainly do with my 7gm VST.
I am still trying to dial myself in, as well as my grinder!
Neverending things to adjust.
And also on an EM 5600, bottomless and Krups single walled double basket.
This latter combination is more challenging.
I think I would make sure I did not overdose, then start adding more, and experimenting with grind, assuming a consistent tamp pressure.
However, I have never achieved the right honey drip consistency I see on various videos and photos.
This morning I weighed my dose in my 15gm VST.
I put in 16gms, with the tamper that comes with the 6910, the tamper went down, with a light tamp, until the stainless cap on the tamper was level with the top of the basket.
I pre infused, made my breakfast, cottage cheese and Cruskets!
Then steamed the milk, and made the shot.
Needle went around to just before over extracted, where it normally goes on this machine.
All was good.
Which is a long way of saying, I imagine dosing in the 7000 will be the same, fill the basket until the tamper stainless cap is level with the top of the basket.
More experienced people than me might comment.

16g, be aware the 7000 does not handle overdosing as gracefully as the 6910.
16g? That's crazy
I've been doing 18g and 20g on 5/60 on my breville grinder
I assume 16g would underextract even at grind 1/60 however I will try.
I'll report back, thanks for your reply!
Hey guys
I'm chasing down what the average/recommended dose is for the double basket that came with the em7000.
I've read some places that say 18g and others that say 22g.
I've been looking for an owners thread on here but haven't come up with much, if anyone has a link please share.
Anyway, what dose is correct for the em7000 double basket? I know it varies bean by bean due to roast etc, but I'm looking for a starting point to dial in my bottomless shots and stop chanelling
