I'm currently in a rental in Portugal and would rather not mess about with installing filters for the time being. I found "Fastio" bottled water in the supermarket, which has very low TDS. As far as I know that's good for espresso machine health but I'm not sure if the TDS number tells the whole story so I thought I would check with the hivemind.
Here is the data sheet:
Firstly, will this water be gentle on my machine? I'd rather avoid descaling for the 1st few years of ownership as I don't know where I could get it done professionally.
Secondly, is there anything about this water that will give obvious taste flaws?
Here is the data sheet:
| Dry residue (at 180ºC) | 34.0 ± 4mg/l |
| Silica | 9.6 ± 2mg/l |
| pH (at 18ºC) | 6.0 |
| Sodium (Na+) | 4.1 ± 0.4 mg/l |
| Calcium (Ca2+) | 1.3 ± 0.3 mg/l |
| Potassium (K+) | 0.6 ± 0.1 mg/l |
| Hydrogen carbonate (HCO3-) | 8.0 ± 0.8 mg/l |
| Chloride (Cl-) | 4.2 ± 0.4 mg/l |
| Sulfate (SO42-) | 1.0 ± 0.2 mg/l |
Secondly, is there anything about this water that will give obvious taste flaws?
