Hi all,
as a coffee lover I have visited this site many times over the years; I live in 'upper SE Qld (if that makes sense) on small acreage and planted out about 20 Coffee 'trees/bushes' about 14 years ago which grew well.
Eventually I had several fairly reasonable crops but had no idea where to go from there :- as chance happens I met Bruno Malerberti in Mareeba about 12 years ago and he showed me the old Italian way of processing the berries and drying (so much labour) but I ran into serious problems when trying to husk successfully and I failed at every trick that he passed on to me!
After several years of insufficient water supply my bushes are all but gone, but not the desire to roast my own beans !
Back then the price of home roasters were through the roof, if you could find one.
Three months ago while attending YouTube University I discovered that home roasting had become very popular; and then The Coffee Snob's Shop and all the goodies that I needed and that answered the maiden's prayers.
I am extremely happy with the Behmor 1600+ as well as Green bean deliveries.
Subsequently I am able to produce roasts that suit my Taste/Grinder and machine - I'm an old fart(73) and disabled vet spending a large amount of time stuck in the wheelchair but Home Roasting gives tremendous Satisfaction and would Highly recommend it to anyone wanting to give it a go !
Sure I've got heaps to learn but that will come with time (if I have enough left - lol).
Happy roasting !
