    Morning Tosca,

Sounds to me like you know your way around coffee, the machinery you mention is all quality gear, think you will fit in here very well.

    'morning Yelta,

My machine is an Isomac Tea PID which I find to be very good, I started off with an Isomac Millenium many years ago but it came to a time where I needed it to return to Sydney for a check-up. As I couldn't 'afford' to be without my coffee I ordered a Tea as a stand in replacement - The Millenium never made it back to Sydney as my Son took it to use and it's never missed a beat since then!
Due to the tyranny of distance when my Tea needed some professional assistance I was again 'forced' to buy another machine. being the Tea PID which now gives me an emergency machine in stock in case I ever need it !

I use (after many tried) the Mazzer mini electronic-a grinder which I am completely satisfied with - and do 22gm grinds per cup ( a proper mug, you understand - not one of those pinky little café types ).

My Behmor 1600+ is doing a good job for me as I am able to turn out roasts which suit my palate - Still trying out many of the different beans on offer through Snobs and find myself using about 2.5kg. / week - normally do two 400g roasts of the same bean at a time, then blend the two to cover any of my sins .
Co-incidentley (bad spelling, but it is early in the morning) I find that one of my handiest roasting assistant tools is my Ryobi battery blower to help me cool rapidly if a roast gets away from me in the finishing!

Welcome Tosca, that's a bugger about the lack of water for the trees but it's a hard 'life on the land'.
It would have been nice to take the process from tree to table.
You sound like you have the rest of the process well in hand.
    Cheers.

Evening Tosca, welcome aboard, sounds like your a perfect fit for Coffee Snobs, looks like you have a lot to contribute.

As a matter of interest I'm gonna claim seniority, wont say by how much, but I have got you beat by a bit.

    New to the Game!

    Hi all,
as a coffee lover I have visited this site many times over the years; I live in 'upper SE Qld (if that makes sense) on small acreage and planted out about 20 Coffee 'trees/bushes' about 14 years ago which grew well.

Eventually I had several fairly reasonable crops but had no idea where to go from there :- as chance happens I met Bruno Malerberti in Mareeba about 12 years ago and he showed me the old Italian way of processing the berries and drying (so much labour) but I ran into serious problems when trying to husk successfully and I failed at every trick that he passed on to me!

After several years of insufficient water supply my bushes are all but gone, but not the desire to roast my own beans !

Back then the price of home roasters were through the roof, if you could find one.

Three months ago while attending YouTube University I discovered that home roasting had become very popular; and then The Coffee Snob's Shop and all the goodies that I needed and that answered the maiden's prayers.

I am extremely happy with the Behmor 1600+ as well as Green bean deliveries.
Subsequently I am able to produce roasts that suit my Taste/Grinder and machine - I'm an old fart(73) and disabled vet spending a large amount of time stuck in the wheelchair but Home Roasting gives tremendous Satisfaction and would Highly recommend it to anyone wanting to give it a go !

Sure I've got heaps to learn but that will come with time (if I have enough left - lol).

    Happy roasting !
Working...
