Coffee may come with a cancer warning in California

California is just hedging its bets given the apparent litigious tendency of the US. If you read the paper about Acrylamide, linked in the article, it mentions that there was a potential carcinogenic risk in laboratory animals; humans don't metabolise dietary acrylamides in the same way.
Anyway, fear not, I'm not about to change my coffee consumption based on this. I'm sure there are many other factors that might bring about an early demise.

Western society is a decadent culture on the slide to oblivion.
We wrap our kids in cotton-wool but leave them exposed to the evils of the internet, restrict free speech in case someone gets offended but allow dangerous minorities to dictate their terms to us, sell off our essential services infrastructure to foreign powers that sponsor fifth-column activity on our own soil. We must have a death wish.

G'day Rocky,Originally posted by Rocky View PostSo Yelta, does that mean that if the "State of California" knew this and did nothing about it (except put up a warning sign in English) that a person who believed they had been adversely affected (by something) could sue the State of California.
Who knows, obviously a legal disclaimer.
You do see the odd sign in Spanish.
What makes me smile is this degree of paranoia from a state that has just legalised the recreational use of cannabis.

One wonders how they expect them to;
"...reduce the amount of the chemical to the point where there would be no significant cancer risk."
In a natural product?
Mind if there's a correlation between roast depth and quantity of Acrylamide it might be a good impetus to get them to stop charring their beans

Almost everything in California comes with a cancer warning, even nail clippers.
You see a notice displayed in the front window of almost every store.
A link to the various signs used.
