Yeah I tend to turn mine on first thing in the morning, it's on for most the morning, then turn it off. Then if I have a coffee later in the afternoon I just turn it back on.

But yeah I'm also interested in leaving it on for the day if anyone has any input there..

i accidentally made a double thread so changed the title of one and the subject but think in my confusion I deleted the wrong thread and made this with the wrong subject content.

I think it would be an interesting exercise as to whether it takes more energy to keep it at temp for say 12 hours a day or get to temp, hold it for say 2 hours and repeat a couple more times. It will depend on the amount your machine is insulated/thermal efficiency.

Might have to conduct a little experiment...

Mine has a 2l boiler, so similar size to others. Its effectively only the same as turning kettle on and boiling it...ish.

When using the smart plug. You must keep the machine on at all times. also the swtich on the wall socket must be on also.

    Hi,

Maybe I'm a bit thick...Just trying to figure out how these plugs work... I get that the phone can switch the plug on, but how can the plug switch the machine on? With my machine, when off, (machine goes off automatically) and I pull the plug out of the wall and put it in again the machine does not start up at all..You have to physically go to the control panel and turn it on as usual...Does this plug send a signal to the machine to turn on?...How does it turn on the machine? Or would it be the way I have the machine configured?

    Cheers.

I have mine set on a timer. Start heating at 5:30am so it is ready for 6am (for the wife) and switch off at 8am monday to friday. Then switch back on at 12pm in case I decide to go home for a cheeky coffee then off at 1pm. Then finally back on at 5pm and off again at 9pm.

Saturday and sunday it stays on from 6am to 12pm and back on 9-5pm.

I often wonder if it is more efficient to leave it on all day rather than heating the water up several times a day. Never done any experiments though, would be interested to see if this was the case.

    Coffee distribution tool

How long does everyone leave there machine on for during he day?

i have a HX machine and switch it on at 6 and off at 8. Then if I want an extra coffee on the weekyi then it on 30mins to heat up and then off again

does anyone just leave it on for extended periods of time? Is it ok to do.

Mine is a Bezzera and I’m sure it’s ok to do, just a possible waste of power. I think the element is ok to be turned on and off a few times a day.
