Completely normal so long as there's not clumps that have stuck to the group head.

Is it nornal for geounds to be on the shower screen? Not a lot, but enough to feel with finger tips.

Im using a 18g basket and dosing with 18g.

I cns try and dose with 16g and see if there is any difference?
"geounds to be on the shower screen": Normal within reason. Generally the oilier the roast, the higher the dose and the poorer the technique, the more buildup you will get. However zero buildup should never be a "main goal" - the taste of the coffee is far more important.

You just described why I always do a quick postflush (under 5 seconds I expect) and wipe down (up?) of the grouphead between shots. Coffee grounds are like grinding paste - they will destroy seals and collars if left in situ.

I also do a preflush, mainly to get the p/f and basket up to temperature. Needless to say, that will vary in timing according to p/f temperature - and why I still prefer naked brass p/f's (they heat up quicker than stainless).

Enjoy your cuppa, keep your machine clean and all will be well.

Musica preinfusion on...still does it. And now it wants a finer grind too.

My breville didnt do it. But my musica does. Preinfusion isnt turned on on the musica, but that is possibly the difference
