  • A Lazy Coffee

    Hi CoffeeSnobs,
What is the best way to ask for a Large Long Black Coffee but not a strong one.
I always have to say, no I don't want 3 or 4 shots just the normal 1 or 2 is fine.
I just want a large cup (amount of water) without the risk of palpatations
If there is no other term for this can I suggest a Lazy Long Black or a "Lazy Coffee"
    Thoughts. Thanks.

Given the variation from cafe to cafe and region to region, your safest bet is to just tell them what you want "A long black based on a single(Double) shot, but with extra water (or in a mug if the cafe differentiates between cups and mugs)". In the interests of multicultural harmony, I would probably avoid using the first of your suggested nicknames for the drink

This is assuming that you want a long black and not a luongo.

Welcome coffeem8. You could always ask for a double shot in a mug and a seperate jug of hot water?

I drink double espresso which you’d think are straight forward but I’ve had all sorts over the years. If it’s a cafe I’m not sure of, I’ll just ask for a short black and I generally get something drinkable, albeit single shot.

As Barry said, be specific if you have a specific drink in mind.
