Get the Breville. Sunbeam make some very capable machines numbered EM6910 - EM7100, but the Torino is a POS.

I'm an owner of that exact combo for the last 3 years and love the coffee machine. The grinder is adequate but will suit as an entry to grinding and making your own espresso.Originally posted by noidle22 View PostAccurate. The Breville is a superior machine and is still much cheaper than the Sunbeam.
In terms of domestic coffee machines, the Breville is the leader and has been for many years. Nothing else is even close.
Be aware that older model of the espresso machine had issues with a pressure regulator solenoid and I have had mine in twice for it but I think the latest iteration of the fix 12 months ago has fixed it.

Thanks level3ninja.
I haven't found a lot of comparison but everything I have found has suggested the Breville is a better machine.
It seems that the Torino has the looks but they aren't backed up with the performance for its price range.

If those are the only two options I would suggest the Breville. If you upgrade the grinder and feed it good beans it's surprisingly capable. It has some nice but not necessary features too like volumetric shots and programmable wake up time.

Help me buy my first proper coffee machine!
Hey snobs,
I have finally convinced my fiance to let me buy a proper coffee machine.
I have a bunch of Qantas points and they are currently having a sale on a few machines that I am interested in.
There are two machines that I am contemplating getting.
The Sunbeam PU8000 Torino

Or
The Breville BEP920BSS with smart grinder

My coffee experience - I wouldn't call myself a barista but I have been working in a busy cafe for just over a year now and can make a decent cup of coffee. I can froth milk and do pretty consistent latte art.
I have definitely become more of a coffee snob over the past year or so and am moving to a remote rural town in South Australia soon so would like to have a decent machine.
My normally coffee order is an espresso or piccolo.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!Last edited by oinomcl; 6 October 2018, 03:22 PM.Tags: None
