Re: Kopi Luwak? My coffees got wings

Its the most exotic, rare and expensive coffee in the world.
I have to say that I agree wholeheartedly with Jim Schulmans recent comments:

Thank God for the Esmeralda; finally the worlds most famous and expensive coffee isnt some predigested Robusta, but a truly great coffee.
Hopefully now these reporters can start actually focussing on how the coffee tastes, rather than how it is produced. The funny thing is that the Esmeralda really is the perfect coffee for that; brewed as anything other than espresso, the mandarin flavour just whacks you over the head.

    Cheers,

    Luca

A great read Mal - judging by the birds eyes, he/she is either really wired on caffeine or is dropping some large beans.

Shall look forward to FC tonight!

Kopi Luwack on Foreign Correspondent tonight

Just letting all those interested that Foreign Correspondent on the ABC are running a story on Kopi Luwack coffee tonight.

    Synopsis from ABC website:

Its the most exotic, rare and expensive coffee in the world. Kopi Luwack which comes from the dung of the Common Palm Civet or Luwack is so rare some believe it doesnt exist.

Much of the coffee which can sell for more than $50 dollars a cup in New York, Hong Kong or Tokyo has been cut or is simply fake.

The ABCs foreign affairs editor Peter Cave is a coffee lover who has been seeking the real thing for many years, so he headed to the mountains of Sumatra to track down the exotic brew and sample it with the farmers who collect the civet dropping from the forest floor and who are experimenting with taming and domesticating the increasingly endangered Luwak.
