  • Coffee Show on SBS Food

New(I think) coffee show on SBS Food tonight Wednesday @ 7.30 called Let’s Do Coffee. 2 episodes in a row of what appears to be a series. Might be worth setting the record series dial. Channel 33 on my dial.

10 minutes in, and it's not looking so good!
Advertising pods and then using supermarket coffee to "show" how to pull an espresso with a very average prep.

    Hopefully it will get better!

Yep certainly some gratuitous product placement and promotion of appliances. However, the guy with his 130 something vintage machines was good viewing and the importance of freshness was noted. Good of a supermarket brand to promote that.......

Low budget advertorial for Breville and Harris et al. Didn't see anything I'd want to taste!

Agreed with Stephen: The one redeeming feature was the machine collector. What a shame that they've targeted the lowest common denominator.

Yep, some promise but pretty disappointing. I can't believe he used pre-ground when the machine he used had a built-in grinder?? Even just to cover the variables for home espresso...

It is a shame that on a funded commercial show they make no effort to understand their subject matter. Unprofessional.

Maybe that is it, the presentation follows Murphy's Golden Rule 'the man who has the gold, rules'

It is also a "repulled" coffee show from 2015. You should never repull even a good shot, why they're repulling this drivel is beyond me

Agree . Watched first 10 minutes got nothing good to say about it . The machine collector was interesting , after that slippery slide all downhill . I have an idea for any tv network .
                ???
If if you want or have funds to put towards a show about coffee let me know , I’m sure I could fill a season worth of airtime about coffee that people would actually want to watch . How can they get it so wrong ???

While watching it, I said to my wife --- this is more of a superficial Postcards show than a specialty coffee show.

If you are going to enlighten people about coffee, perhaps you should aim to NOT regurgitate what is freely available on the subject and tell us something new.

Also, the wide-eyed presenter seems to know nothing about the subject, so devaluing the currency of the program as well.

She's an actress, not a coffee expert.

SBS food shows such as Two Greedy Italians, Food Safari, are presented by people with an intimate understanding of their subject, so their "ooohs and aaahhs" have credence. Think the late London restaurateur Antonio Carluccio, Jamie Oliver, Guy Grossi, Maeve O'meara, the hairy bikers.

Didn't see it last night, but these could well be repeats. This show was originally produced for Ch 10 about 3 years ago.

The title screen has "2015" on it

Just watched it on catch up. It's one of the worst programmes I've ever seen.

There is no way I'd drink coffee that old.

A fun show and Toni Pearen (presenter) seems to be a coffee lover. Sure some of the coffees presented were not top shelf, we can all see that, plus there are some sponsor product placements (can't have a show without money folks). Let's face it only a few of us coffee snobs would watch a show purely about the technical aspects of coffee making, that's why nobody's going to pony up the money for it.
