Wanted to give an update on this situation. Sorry for the delay as I was travelling. We have finally installed a refurbished Astoria 2 group machine, serviced the existing grinder and replaced the burrs. They are now working well and serving lattes after church service. Thanks for all your help and support.

As far as a grinder goes try one of these:

I believe it is a Mazzer and while it is old, I think it probably needs servicing and new burrs. Given the budget challenges, I am sure we should be able to salvage this grinder and so focus only on getting a new one for the new machine. Thanks

What is the old grinder and what does "not working well" look like symptom-wise?

Thanks dan77. Should have provided budget details. Expecting to pay about $5K for a setup including the grinder. Hope that helps. Thanks.

Just to add, the current machine at the church is a San Marino Lisa 3 group which is probably about 10 years old. Reading some of the comments here about the San Marino Lisa 3, makes me wonder if we shuld just junk it and look at 2 new or pre-owned machines. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.

You probably want to start with a budget or you probably won't get too far. If you have a budget then people might be able to help you start.

On a side note, you might want to keep your eye on the for sale area as there have been some really good & cheap grinders going which would suit a cafe.

I am looking for guidance and advice on our current coffee machine situation and requirements. The church has had donated 3 group San Marino coffee machine for some time. As the church is going to move to its new building next door, I have been asked to help get the machine serviced and moved to the new site. Have also been asked to see if we can get a 2nd machine for the church for a small Cafe-like area we have downstairs for smaller crowds with no plans to actually operate a cafe. We probably also need a couple of grinders to do with this setup as the old grinder is not working well. Since this is a church, cost will be a major consideration. Would like suggestions and ideas on who could help us with the service and move plus what machine should be look for the new unit. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks.
