Thats a big yeah nuh from me, physics alone you would not get same heat transfer as a proper machine, this going by what others say in office, appealing to the milenial hipster greenies who dont know taste,
I couldnt see myself using one, even the aeropress i thought was a waste of money!
But i could be cynical!
I publically discussed a design using a similar principle several months ago and have since built two machine based on it. Unless the patent only covers the valve, it looks likely to fail on non-obviousness.
And yes, heat loss is a big problem.

I can't see that it's likely to be any worse than a flair would be for espresso. I'm curious as to whether it may make a satisfactory hand luggage traveller with a good hand grinder. I'll try it with my Precision.
If the concept works, I'm happy to manage the heat limitations of anything which uses this model. I funded one a few weeks ago.
I can get the important bits of my Flair pretty hot, and the solid metal holds the heat pretty well too.
but I've been using a minipresso for travel and I previously used a handpresso. I can make reasonable coffee with either. But probably would do better with better heat retention. Regardless, this thing looks like it's much smaller and hopefully also lighter. Might help me in my quest to travel for work with hand luggage only.
I thought the video said no plastic consumables, so I would assume Aeropress filters. Looks like it won't be much closer to espresso than the Kompresso
Why are people so intent on making a portable espresso maker? Espresso is the worst way to brew coffee.
i think the marketing plays on the idea of modern comforts in a camping situation. which i think is dumb. i hate camping, but for sure i would love like a billy of coffee over futsing around with little parts for a coffee experience that will last less than ten seconds.
I’m also a bit confused - they say in the video that it doesn’t use any consumables. What do you put in it then?

Well each to his own but I am of the opposite opinion: If I can't get a decent espresso I'll drink tea.
Since I often end up out of reach of any of my three machines, especially when I'm in the high country in winter (I'm a keen XC ski racer), I decided to try to make one I could take with me.

I love most brewing methods, including Espresso.
Each method brings a different perspective to the result in the cup and like Yelta says above, "Vive la difference."
