Yup, Rascals is no more. They were forced to move out of their old premises as the centre was being redeveloped.
They mainly do wholesale but are open thursdays for retail trade.
There new contact details are here: http://www.chipironimountaincoffee.com/contact.html

Im glad you posted this although I had never had a coffee from there before, though i didnt know they roasted there own or i may have, the food was good and i usually had a corona with it hence no coffee but its about an hour drive there and we were planning a trip over there in the next week or two so thanks you sort of saved a trip still have to visit MIL, though the pub down the road is very good for food and beer (asahi on tap) that is.

Ive just heard that Alen (formally of Cafe Modena) has just opened his new cafe called.....Alens Espresso

Its on George St, down near the law courts and Roma St Station (I think?!)

Yet to try it out, but am hoping to get there soon. If his efforts at Cafe Modena are anything to go by, it will soon be another Brisbane coffee staple.

Anything worth checking out around or near Albert & Charlotte streets in the city? Im staying in the Sebel suites and Brisvegas is a town I dont really know well, not having been here very often. Even if some of the ones mentioned are only a 10 or 15 minute walk away, that would be great.

                    Thanks!

Re: micro roastaries/ hole in wall cafes in Brisba

I just got back from a few weeks in Brisbane and will be going back for another few weeks next Sunday. While I didnt get a chance to try a lot of coffee places, Modena was less than half a block from where I was working and so I frequented it quite often.
If Irene is the blonde there then I have to agree she makes the best coffee there. Every time.

When I down next Ill make my best attempt to try more places that have been mentioned!

As an aside, I picked up the Sunbeam Barista kit from Myers while I was there. Now I just need to get a coffee machine and a decent grinder.

Gday Hazchem, also just around the corner from Naked coffee, is the Dancing Bean on George St. (and they dont serve Di Bella like most other Brisbane cafes at the moment ;D )

                          Enjoy!

Heres my new list of food and coffee places. It might be helpful to others who want to go around a try a few places -

The list was made from posts here, I should add. So the credit goes to you guys.

Thanks for the tips G-O-D and Steve, I got to Naked but didnt see your post about Dancing Bean in time. Ill check it out next time though as Ive decided the Sebel is a better place to stay than where i normally do.

I also found myself down near Allens Espresso and went in for a few brews. Good stuff, and great location - sticking it to the Gloria Jeans ;D
