  • What sort of cup do you like?

What do you like to drink out of?  I have never been able to come at coffee served in glass - dont know why, and have just dusted off a couple of stainless double-skinned espresso cups that I have chosen not to sell on eBay because they are moderately decorative.  Again, for some reason, I think they are unsuitable for coffee -too hot or too cold.  For espresso I am currently using some nice little cups I bought in Melbourne very cheaply.  Im interested in what others like or dislike.  It would seem to me that its a pretty important part of the overall experience :-/

Im a big fan of the Nuova Point cups. Nice and thick, not too big, simple and solid. Ive been told their rounded inner profile is good for pouring latte art if you are so inclined.
Im in Newcastle too, you can buy them at a kitchen supply shop in Adamstown. Cant remember the price but not over the top.

Illy Nude for Espresso (very good for exploring your extraction technique) and some normal cappuccino cups with Cappuccino written all over then for milk based drinks.

Main thing to look for is thick walls as they will hold the heat better. Getting standard sizes helps with producing properly proportioned drinks.

All of our espresso cups are stored on top of the Boema and so are always nice and warm, the glass ones we find that the heat dissapates too quiclly and the porceline cups retain there heat much longer and like Wired we too look for thick walled cups as well.

Illy Cupos yeah....... arent they just great... The Art, The Quality The Cups I guess quality does cost but what a great addition to your coffee set.

When I came back from France a couple of years back my Brother and I did a Café crawl and collected a heap, some not avail as they were made specificaly for the restaurants.

Just before we drink our coffees---we take great pleasure in seeing the shots being pulled. For that reason we use latte glasses with the metal handles. Love watching the crema build up. For an espresso, we use smaller versions of same. With cappuccino cups (we have those too) you cant see whats going on inside. And you cant instantly see the depth of froth on top for lattes.

Yeah I love seeing whats in the cup so I use clear glass ones as well. I have some small ones for espresso and larger ones for double lattes and cappas. For singles I have some glasses that were apparently made for Drambuie that look like mini beer steins that are nice and thick. All three of these glasses match up very nicely as theyre all clear glass with stainless steel accents.

I have been looking everywhere for some nice coffee cups.
I took a chance on these VERY CUTE (important for a grl) cups, and I am sooooooooo glad I did. They were a bargain $5 for 6 never used (OP Shop) , hold 150 mls (just right for a double shot latte ), have a nice lip to drink from and hold the heat remararkably well.

Has anyone else noticed this from porcelain tea cups? I mean, my partner didnt come and drink for 5 mins, I forgot to warm the cups and the coffee was still piping hot!

I thought I was going to be dissapointed and they were going to be used only for tea, but they are great!

I think those cups are a little genteel for me, Clarexican. My little finger would get a cramp from the required extension.
I prefer a solid, thick and WHITE cup, as small as possible. An espresso cup for espresso, thankyou. Illy or similar.

                  Hi all,
My faves are Duralex espresso glasses and some dark-brown cups that are the same size & shape as tthe duralex but opaque ceramic. (no handles either)
Both seem to hold the heat really well and are the right size but with the glass you can see your wonderful creations!
