I was also trying to find a thread I started when I was up here last year but havent had any luck digging it up. Im pretty sure there was some answers in that one but I never got the chance to check the cafes out!
Also thinking about taking a drive up to the Skybury coffee plantation this weekend. Its about an hour from Cairns I think.
Whilst I know its not Cairns specifically, these two threads may help. I seem to have an issue opening the news item link in the first link so not sure what it says exactly:
At Cairns try the cafe at the entrance of the Pier, they roast their own but changed hands recently so cant give a opinion.
In Port Douglas definetly try Rehab opposite Coffee Club and the coles shopping complex, head above the rest in the North.
RE tablelands I prefered Jaques to Coffee Works, which I felt was overpriced. Ironically had more fun watching the chocolate works side of things at Coffee Works then the coffee side. Open air barrells of roasted beans for retail eekkk.
Went to Skybury Australian Coffee Centre last week. Good experience. Coffee below average. Didnt have time to visit Jaques....but probably should have gone there.
Too bad... I just got back from out this way. I was going to search/make a thread, but I didnt think there would be anything for whatever reason.
I was fortunate enough to stumble across Coffee Dominion in Townsville through a stroke of luck... got a couple of decent shots there from Hayden which I was happy about.
