Well, working away as one does behind the machine, you dont often stop and pause to smell the roses...

But yesterday, I was about to fill the porterfiller for the upteemth time and just as I put it into the holder under the hopper, I noticed what I had managed to create, totally accidently.

So...heres my heart to you all. 8-)

short_black_fella, I know you are new here and I hope you arent being rude to me... :-?

I will tell you my secret...only if you promise not to tell anyone else.

When making copious amounts of coffee at work, I run the water from the grouphead and use it to help rinse any unwanted coffee out of the portafiller. Sometimes, even after I have wiped the filter basket, there is still water dripping from the bottom of the spouts, hence why the coffee under the grinder is damp.

If youd like to disagree with my technique, you might want to get my customers feedback first which is that my coffee is the best in the north west...And I will stand by that even though I know I am not using the best coffee that is out there...

Um, no offence, but customers are stupid. The consuming public, or 99 % of them are stupid. Im sure you make a fabbo coffee though.

Oh, and why are you not using the best coffee out there??

Customers can be stupid, especially when they forget that we are actually seeing them at their best or worst in the food game. (Hear that everyone!?) So, when I have to clean up their mess after them, I know that they are definitely not the sharpest tools in the shed...

My friends who pay me to make coffee (Yes, I am officially not allowed to refer to them as "my bosses") have been using a particular coffee from a certain Sydney roaster for many years. Were very well branded to them now. Its okay coffee and I can make it taste great but the bottom line is...I know that there is better out there.

I am well on the way to educating the locals, so dont you worry!

And mine...I discovered this little heart on my tamp mat yesterday,..not as elaborate as yours,.. canvas not as messy whaahaha,.. but totally accidental and not touched in any way.
