this morning i experienced a brain freeze which Im attributing to melbournes cold spell and emptied my sample roast of yemen ismaili beans into the dosing chamber instead of the hopper of my grinder - thus beginning an exasperating coffee process!

Re: any points for brain freeze?
I think it happens to all of us-- a late night, then an early morning, no coffee in the system yet, and you remember that the reservoir is nearly empty, so you pull out a pitcher and go to pour water into the bean hopper of your grinder... Didnt happen to me..... but I came REAL close.

Re: any points for brain freeze?
I regularly have a seniors moment where i full the group handle and put in the machine, get distracted for a second or so then take it out and knock it on the Bang Bang and then proceed to grind more and realise i just dumped fresh unbrewed coffee away.
My SWMBO just gives me the "you idiot" look.

Re: any points for brain freeze?
well I managed to redeem myself yesterday by ditching the ismaili beans (which were purchased and stale anyway) - and making myself a lovely espresso with some yirgacheffe which Id roasted myself a week before...
yum... bloody yum! doesnt mater if youve got a bag of some bloody expensive beans if the flippin things are stale: you cant beat the flavour of a fresh (7 days post roast) home roast! ;D

Re: any points for brain freeze?
Pat, happens to the best of us mate ...
Maybe the male brains inability to multi-task? ... as asserted by the unfathomably complex female brains on the planet
I was once distracted by a customers questions regarding bitterness he constantly tasted in his coffee (NOT FROM ME) when going out. At the stage of his question, requiring thought & a bit of a lengthy reply as to the underlying reasons to explain the possible reasons behind the bitter lingering on his palate, I extracted shots for waiting customers ... then poured cold milk directly into their cups, rather than the jug, whilst talking to this guy about possible reasons for bitter tastes in his coffee.
He seemed satisfied ... the sudden iced coffees for the others didnt go down well :-?
