Dave Makin has just announced that after the Australian Barista Championships he will be retiring from competitive barista comps. One would assume he also means AFTER the WBC if he wins the day today.
His performance was very polished and finished well within time - champion style.
Im just back from it. I missed Con who apparently nailed it. From the audience, Daves performance was really impressive and he was very relaxed. Hazel was brilliant as a final competitor and should certainly be amongst the front runners.
Anne Cooper also presented superbly and had the most creative signature drink IMHO (served in a group handle! ). Wish I could have tried it!
I suspect it will be a really tight finish and any of the top guys/girls could take it out.
Its amazing to think how far we have progressed in a few short years. These highly talented baristi have astonishing skills and are really pushing the envelope.
