18 grams minimum. The coffee when tamped should be just above the ridge. Not under...and not too much over either.
David you are a genius the sweet spot for my machine is between 18.3grams and 18.6 grams

The shot I just pulled has taken me to heaven

    What can I say
I am happy as a kid in a candy store  ;D

With the VBM the basket sits a tad higher and the PF locks at 7 o clock. Might have to file down the sides.
I suggest wet and dry sand paper on a flat board/surface rather than a file

The LM basket fits wierd on the domobar PF......

Hows the extraction compared to the stock galatea baskets?
Basket fits snug in the Galatea PF it goes on easy with a snap sound at the end, also basket roll fits in perfect on the raised lip just above the spring clip of the PF,
however I need a spoon to remove from PF

Still working on extraction but even my underdose was just on the plus (+) side of acceptable

    Thanks TG
I am not going to change the grind or current beans untill the new Macap M4D grinder arrives
I will add another 5 seconds on the timer or cut the flow when judged by eye

If you dont change the grind or tamp then the extra 4 grams should increase your extraction time.

    Fantastic
That gives me a starting point - will start at 18 grams and adjust as needed

Now will that increase my extraction time

Many thanks David for the advice

started a topic La Marzocco stepped double basket

    La Marzocco stepped double basket

What is the optimum amount of coffee in grams required for the La Marzocco stepped double basket (This an original stepped basket not the no step copy)

Its has replaced the original spec basket for my Bezzera Domus / E61 porta filter

I weigh my coffee grounds and find that 14 grams is not enough to take into account the tamp, as the tamper bottoms out on the step collar leaving the coffee under tamped and causes quicker water flow

I have experimented a little with 14 grams as a starting point - at 0.1 grams over at a time but it may take a while to find the sweet spot. Any help will speed up the process

If anyone has one of these baskets you may be able to advise
I just need to know what would be the optimum amount of extra grounds needed to get all the variables just right

Currently drinking WOW blend from bean bay

    Many Thanks
